実践的な英語力を鍛える
6月11日、高校2年生のグローバル・プログラム履修生が、英語の授業の一環として「Travel Agency Fair」を開催しました。生徒たちは旅行代理店のセールス担当に扮し、それぞれが調査した国をテーマに「夢のバケーションプラン」を英語でプレゼンテーションしました。
発表は3～4名のグループで行われ、全8チームが参加。旅行費用、宿泊施設、移動手段・所要時間などを含む現実的な旅行プランを立案し、カラフルで見やすいポスターを作成。行き先は、ルクセンブルク、ギリシャ、ドイツ、ポルトガル、スイス、モナコ、トルコ、UAEと、世界各国にわたる多彩な内容となりました。
聴衆には、高校1年生および中学3年生のグローバル履修生に加え、グローバルクラスへの進学を検討している中学2年生、教員も参加。発表者たちは、英語で4分間のセールストークを行い、さらに1分間、観客からの英語による質問に答えるなど、実践的な英語力が求められる場となりました。
観客は、真剣に発表に耳を傾け、オンラインフォームを通じてコメントや評価を送信。フィードバックには「とても興味を引かれた」「英語が自然で分かりやすかった」など、感動や称賛の声が多く寄せられ、発表者たちにとって大きな励みとなりました。
将来の海外留学や国際的な仕事を視野に入れたグローバル履修生たちにとって、自らの英語力を発揮しながら実践的な英語を使って理解を深める、貴重な学びの機会となりました。
We are thrilled to share the success of our recent Travel Agency Event, a highlight of this term for our Ko2 Global students! This exciting project showed our students’ creativity, research skills, and English proficiency in a fun and engaging way.
For this event, our students took on the role of travel agents and created dream vacation packages for countries they researched. There was a total of eight groups, with three to four members each. They crafted realistic travel plans, including prices, places to stay, and travel times. Next, they made vibrant, easy-to-read posters to show their vacation packages. The students used both creativity and clear information to attract potential “travelers.” Each student then delivered a one-minute sales pitch in English to present their ideas to their audience. Afterwards, they would take questions for one minute from the audience.
The event was attended by Chu3 Global students and Ko1 Global students, as well as Chu2 students who may become Global students in the future. The students listened attentively and provided valuable feedback through an online form. Their scores and comments showed how impressed they were with the presentations, which further motivated our Ko2 presenters.
A great deal of preparation went into this event, with students conducting research and practicing their English to make sure their presentations were the best they could be. Their hard work paid off spectacularly! All of us teachers were proud of the students for their displays of enthusiasm, teamwork, and ability to present in English.
This event is just one example of how our Global students can apply their language skills in a real-world context. Thank you to everyone who supported and attended our event!
